A subject I've enjoyed studying this semester

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog. Today I'll write about a subject I've enjoyed studying this semester. One of the subjects that I've most enjoyed in this first semester has been Aesthetics and Artistic Modernity. Generally, what we did in class was analyzed texts and artworks to understand modern poetic and aesthetic debates of the period. For that, we analyzed with the teacher, authors like   Edgar Allan Poe, Paul Valéry, Guy de Maupassant, and one of the most important, Charles Baudelaire with his text  The Painter of Modern Life;  and also artworks like The Balcony, Luncheon on the Grass  by Manet, and The Orchestra at the Opera by Degas. In summary, the main contents that we have seen are modernity, literature, and artworks of modernity. And about why I liked this subject I can say that I liked it because, quite simply, I think it is a fascinating topic. This subject helped me to understand the art production after modernity; for example, the artistic production of

A website that I enjoy visiting.

Hello everyone, welcome to my blog! Today I'll write about the website Google Arts & Culture. Google Arts & Culture is a website that allows us to explore museum collections from different countries through high-quality images of artworks. The website also allows us to explore historical and cultural sites through the street view of Google Maps. Another section that is so funny about Google Arts & Culture is the game section, where there are games like cultural crosswords, visual crosswords, puzzles, or questionnaires such as What came first? I visit the site frequently because I always look there for the paintings, sculptures, or any artwork mentioned in the classes, and so I can see all details of the artworks. And that is why I like the site because I can get information about art and culture, and I can see the images on the website, which are also of good quality.  If you're interested in Google Arts & Culture, here you have the link: https://artsandculture

How can my major make the world a better place?

Hello everyone, welcome to my blog! Today I'll write about how my major can make the world a better place. To talk about this topic first, I must say that I study Theory and History of Art. In my opinion, this major definitely can affect the world and in a positive way.  I think that my major can have a positive effect on the world because it can contribute to the promotion of art and culture and also to heritage conservation. In my opinion, that is very important because it will allow for the formation of  people's identity. I also think that my major is positive for the world because it can make known relevant information that can contribute to other disciplines like anthropology. And about that how I see myself in the process, I see myself promoting the culture and the arts through education. In my opinion, it's so important the students receive a good arts education at school so that the students can develop their sensibility and their capacity for expression. In my ca

A photograph and its story

Hello Everyone. Welcome to my blog! Today I'll write about a photograph of my dog and its story. This photograph shows my first pet, Gaspar, when he was a puppy. This photograph was taken by me, with the camera of my grandfather in 2009. He always let me play with his camera (I think that he thought that the camera had no film). This day, when I took the photo, I was with Gaspar in the courtyard of my grandparents' house. He posed next to the plants while I was standing in the doorframe. I took so many photographs of my grandparents' house that I finished the film, but I don't remember if I finished it  that day or later. One day I stopped playing with the camera, and it goes stored away for ten years until my grandfather told me that there was a film to be developed. The truth is that I didn't remember which photographs were on the film, in fact, I didn't know that I had taken  those photographs. So I was moved very much when I saw the photos for the first tim

A food that I really like

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog. Today I`ll write about a food that I really like. First of all, I have to say that I like many types of food, like the vegetable omelet, lasagna, gnocchi, and many more, but I chose squash soup to speak about this topic because when I  tried it for the first time (in quarantine), it really surprised me. The truth is that I don`t like squash but, I love it prepared as a soup because the mixing flavors with the other vegetables make the preparation very delicious. Also, I like this food because its texture is very creamy and soft. In addition to the above, I like this food because I`m sure that squash soup has a positive impact on my health, precisely because vegetables are good sources of vitamins. I think that it`s a good form to eat vegetables that I don`t like.      The squash soup is a creamy and hot food, ideal for autumn and winter seasons. And about how it made it, I have to confess that I`m not very sure because my brother is the person who t

My favorite piece of technology

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog.      Today I`ll write about my favorite piece of technology.       One of my favorite pieces of technology is the phone; although I also have other favorite pieces like the camera or the robot vacuum cleaner; however, I choose this piece to talk about this topic because I think that  the evolution of the phone has been incredible.  Thanks to technological advances the phone has increased its functions:  at present, for example, besides being able to make calls, we can take pictures with the camera on the mobile phone, we can find information on the internet, we can use GPS that helps us find and share locations, and on top of that, we can communicate easily with people of different cultures and parts of the world.       When I was 12 or 13 years old, I like to talk with my best friend on the home phone (landline phone). I liked the idea that we could communicate despite the distance. Then when I grew up more I began using a mobile phone, now I could

Why did I choose my major?

Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog Today I`ll write about my major: Theory and History of Art. First, Let me tell you about my dream job when I was a child. When I was six or seven years old, I dreamed of becoming an astronomer, and explore the universe, like many children. Then, when I grew up,  I was very interested in  psychology and, it was one of my options to study because I wanted to understand the human being. But then I understood that I could also understand the human being through art, and for that, I`m studying Theory and History of Art at the University of Chile (this is my third year studying). I choose my major because, in my opinion, art is interesting, and understand it can help us to understand other things about the  human being. Apart from this, I hope I can help to make art more accessible to people. Finally, my experience at the university  has been good; the teachers are good, and the content they teach is interesting; however, the pandemic has prevented us from
