Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog.
Today I'll write about a subject I've enjoyed studying this semester.
One of the subjects that I've most enjoyed in this first semester has been Aesthetics and Artistic Modernity. Generally, what we did in class was analyzed texts and artworks to understand modern poetic and aesthetic debates of the period. For that, we analyzed with the teacher, authors like Edgar Allan Poe, Paul Valéry, Guy de Maupassant, and one of the most important, Charles Baudelaire with his text The Painter of Modern Life; and also artworks like The Balcony, Luncheon on the Grass by Manet, and The Orchestra at the Opera by Degas. In summary, the main contents that we have seen are modernity, literature, and artworks of modernity.
And about why I liked this subject I can say that I liked it because, quite simply, I think it is a fascinating topic. This subject helped me to understand the art production after modernity; for example, the artistic production of Paul Cézzane, Gauguin, Van Gogh, or Matisse. Apart from that, I liked it because the teacher explains very well and clear, I could understand and relate the contents with my previous knowledge.
Luncheon on the Grass, 1863, Édouard Manet.Thank you very much for taking the time to read this post :)
